Yellow Beach Dune Grass
in New England
This is a typical beach dune grass that is yellow and found at most of the beaches in New England on the dunes.
I assume that it was planted by local residents, or the city, to keep the dunes from blowing away. There are also signs that say, Keep off the Dunes."

Also this sea grass helps to keep the water from washing away the sand. The roots are thick and go deep, spreading very quickly. When the wind blows the sea grass the seeds spread everywhere.
As you can see in this picture there is a path that goes right through beach grass. Sometimes on top of the dunes there are spots where people lay out there blankets and towels to get some sun.
